We were founded by three dads with significant experience coaching, organizing, and refereeing youth sports. We’ve seen the good, the bad and the ugly. And we firmly believe youth sports are best when it truly is all about the kids. About the opportunity to try something new, make friends, and experience positive coaching. About trying, failing, trying again, and learning from the experience. About learning the fundamentals. About balanced competition. About losing with grace and winning with great sportsmanship. About being competitive, expecting the best of yourself, and taking something positive from every experience, win or lose. About respect for the game, the players, parents, coaches and refs. We’ll do everything we can to make it all about the kids.
Palos Verdes Youth Basketball League is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization run entirely by volunteers, with a fully-functional Board you know and trust. 100% of proceeds are used to benefit the players.
Our mission is to develop age-appropriate basketball skills and build confidence in the sport. Upon consultation with coaching professionals, we determined this could best be achieved for our younger players by playing a 3-on-3 format. As a result, our youngest divisions are played on lowered baskets, with smaller balls, in a 3-on-3 half-court format designed to maximize every child’s opportunity to actively participate, build fundamental skills, and handle the ball.
As PV youth sports parents and volunteers ourselves, we understand how difficult it can be to juggle participation in multiple, concurrent sports. We are committed to reducing such overlap by scheduling our Winter season to start after the end of AYSO's Fall regular season and end before most local Little League Opening Days.
Our players wear high-quality, custom-designed, reversible jerseys and shorts decked out with personalized name and number. A great-looking uniform helps our players play with pride, and parents appreciate that uniforms may be reused in future season, saving money since they aren’t required to purchase a new uniform every season.
Our volunteer coaches are all background checked, screened by the Board, trained by professional coaches, and supported with the tools to succeed.
We know there are many youth basketball programs available and truly value the trust you place in us. We are committed to providing great customer service through professional and timely communication
